In 2012 Montlaur were engaged to project manage the completion and certification of the School of Biological Sciences refurbishment of Building 53, reporting to the Deputy Director FSD.

The scope of the redevelopment included offices, PC2 and PC3 (QIC) laboratories, insect containment, support spaces and improvements to the building’s overall functionality. This included fitout of the offices and laboratories, and upgrades to the stairs, lift and entry.

Additional facade work was undertaken to the west of the building to improve the frontage and its presentation to the Science Technology Research and Innovation Precinct.

Roof plant upgrades were also included in the redevelopment along with the upgrade of annexe spaces for future development.
