National Measurement Institute
Laboratory & Tenancy Fitout, 1/153 Bertie Street, Port Melbourne VIC
3,000 m² / $6.8 million
Project Management & Superintendent Services
The project involved the fitout of an internal warehouse and mezzanine office space to create the new headquarters for the National Measurement Institute.
2,000 m2 of new laboratories and 1,000 m² of new office space was constructed with all new services. All systems were controlled by the site BMS including monitoring of the power consumption for the site.
Leasing restrictions demanded an extremely tight program which necessitated extensive use of night shifts and other out of hours works. The on site construction period was an extremely rapid 4 months. A high degree of collaboration between the client, contractor and design team enabled this deadline to be successfully met.
The project was recognised with the 2009 Master Builders Association (MBA) National Award ‘$5m to $10m Commercial Construction’.
