Infrastructure Upgrade, Building 201, Bundoora VIC

$3 million
Project Management & Superintendent Services

Montlaur completed a feasibility study for RMIT which recommended improved vertical transport infrastructure for the Bundoora campus. The project involved the procurement, installation and commissioning of 9 new heavy duty escalators for Building 201. The new units replaced existing escalators which were 30 years old and required ongoing maintenance and repairs.

To facilitate the works, a section of wall was removed enabling the existing escalators to be craned out of the building and a pulley system was mounted from the roof of the lobby to guide the new units into position.

The program was extremely tight and the operation had many complexities including continued occupation of the building.

The works were completed within an 8 week time frame.
