Yarra Community Housing’s ‘Common Ground’ is a landmark mixed use development, purpose built for the chronically homeless in the Melbourne CBD.
The project is a partnership between Yarra Community Housing (agency / owner), Home Ground (support services provider) and the Department of Human Services (DHS). This partnership and development will ensure that chronically homeless people gain safe, long term affordable housing and support services.
The building has significant ESD features including automated natural ventilation systems, grey water treatment, solar hot water and a green roof. The project achieved a 4 Star Green Star Multi Unit Residential Design rating.
The state of the art facility was officially opened in October 2010 by the Premier of Victoria and both the State and National Ministers for Housing.
